At Redmond Smiles, we want your smile to be the best that it can be. With all-on-4 implants, you get the stability, functionality, and appearance of natural teeth. Dr. Colby Eckland and your dental team answer your questions about all-on-4 implant treatment here.
All-on-4 is an implant treatment designed to restore your smile after most or all of your natural teeth go missing. Using only four implants, Dr. Eckland can support a full arch of upper or lower artificial teeth to complete your smile.
If you’re missing most or all of your teeth, have no underlying oral or general health issues, and have sufficient bone density to support implants, this treatment could be for you. Dr. Eckland will evaluate your oral, general, and jawbone health and review your lifestyle habits to see if implants are a viable option.
A standard implant procedure may require 6 to 10 implants to support an arch of upper or lower teeth, and the implants are placed vertically in your jaw. All-on-4 uses only four implants per arch. Dr. Eckland places the back implants at an angle instead of vertically to maximize contact with your jawbone and obtain optimal stability. This technique works well for people with limited bone density who don’t want to undergo a bone graft before treatment.
No, Dr. Eckland will numb your mouth for implant surgery. Sedation is also an option for those who need something extra to ease anxiety or fear. Your gums may feel swollen or tender for a few days after your surgery. These symptoms can be managed with OTC or prescription pain relievers.
All-on-4 implants offer a permanent solution to replacing lost teeth, as your teeth are anchored by implants that can last indefinitely. Unlike traditional dentures, implant teeth never come loose. They’re strong, stable restorations that improve your chewing power and have a natural look and feel. Moreover, implants will prevent jawbone loss, enabling you to maintain your facial structure and youthful appearance.
The surgery itself can often be completed in one dental visit. Afterward, the implants need time to fuse with your jawbone and heal, which can take three to six months or longer to complete. Then, Dr. Eckland will attach abutments and create and attach your new teeth to finalize your procedure.
